Can You Run The University Challenge?

The Ulster Sports Academy is inviting all runners who think they have what it takes to compete in the University Challenge.

The 5k road races will take place at the University’s Jordanstown on Wednesday 16 April and at the Coleraine campus on Wednesday 23 April.

The new initiative from the Academy calls on all those who think they can conquer the race courses at either or both campuses to take to the starting line-up.

Dr Nigel Dobson, Co-Director of the Ulster Sports Academy said: “This is a great new chance for clubs and individuals to really put themselves to the test in the University Challenge. It is the inaugural year of the challenge so the honour of becoming the first winner is up for grabs and we would hope to see a strong turnout on both campuses.

University Athletics Development Officer Kerry Harty said: “The University Challenge is going to offer clubs a great opportunity to stretch their legs on a new road race course. The University Athletics Club shall be leaving the University race prize wide open to the other sports clubs on campus as the IUAA Outdoor track and field Championship will be on the same week, so it will be exciting.’’

Closing dates for applications are 9 April for the Jordanstown race and 16 April for Coleraine.
